10 Best Budget Beauty Tips

Foudn this article on Totalbeauty.com - EXCELLENT TIPS! I'm all about natural remedies and at home beauty tips! Take a look! Some of them are awesome. Janice Cox sounds brilliant. I think I may go pick up her book!

10 Best Budget Beauty Tips

Four Amazing Uses for Baking Soda
No. 1: As a Clarifying Shampoo: Mix 2 teaspoons baking soda with 1 cup water and use as a final rinse after shampooing. No. 2: As a Facial Cleanser: Mix 1/2 teaspoon with your favorite cleanser for extra exfoliating (no need to buy a separate scrub!). This is fine for all skin types to do weekly, but dry skin may need to follow up with a rich moisturizer. No. 3: As a Foot Powder: Sprinkle some baking soda into your workout shoes for stink-free and sweat-free feet. No. 4: As a Teeth Whitener: It has a salty taste but baking soda is a classic tooth cleanser and whitener -- sprinkle on a damp toothbrush and brush as normal. -- Janice Cox, Author of Natural Beauty at Home (Henry Holt & Company)

A Spa Treatment for Free! (Seriously)
For simple in-home hydrotherapy, start out your day with a hot steamy shower and just as you are finishing switch the water to cold for about 15 seconds. Repeat the process for two minutes. This hydrotherapy technique will revitalize your skin and give it a glow by stimulating the flow of blood through the skin. (The price of this treatment at a spa: $95!) -- Kayla Fioravanti, an ARC Registered & Certified Aromatherapist and the Co-founder and Chief Cosmetic Formulator for Essential Wholesale

Use Strawberries to Fight Acne
Mash together 1/4 cup fresh strawberries with 1/4 cup sour cream or yogurt, spread on clean skin, let sit for 15 minutes, and then rinse well. Strawberries are a natural source of salicylic acid (the same stuff found in acne products). -- Janice Cox, Author of Natural Beauty at Home (Henry Holt & Company)

Who'd-of-Thunk-It Uses for Honey:
No. 1: As a Hair Conditioner: Massage 1 tablespoon of pure honey into damp hair after shampooing and then rinse out with warm water. Honey is a natural humectant, meaning it attracts and holds moisture in your hair. No. 2: As a Substitute for Bubble Bath: Mix together 1 cup water, 1/2 cup honey and 1/2 cup liquid soap, pour into a warm bath under the running water. No. 3: As a Facial Mask: Honey is perfect for healing acne-prone or dry skin, spread on clean skin and let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Honey is a powerful antioxidant and also has antibacterial properties, making it good for breakouts. -- Janice Cox, Author of Natural Beauty at Home (Henry Holt & Company)

The Perfect Sub for a Pricey Eye Cream
Slice raw potatoes and put them on your eyelids to reduce puffiness. -- Kayla Fioravanti, an ARC Registered & Certified Aromatherapist and the Co-founder and Chief Cosmetic Formulator for Essential Wholesale

Fight Dry Skin with Bananas or Avocados
Mash 1/2 ripe banana or avocado and spread on clean skin, let sit for 15 minutes, rinse well. -- Janice Cox, Author of Natural Beauty at Home (Henry Holt & Company)

Tea Time Is Toner Time
Cool Green Tea is a refreshing and cleansing toner -- perfect for acne prone skin. -- Janice Cox, Author of Natural Beauty at Home (Henry Holt & Company)

Finally, Something to Do with Leftover Mashed Potatoes
Yes, it sounds bizarre but you can cure swollen feet with a mashed potato foot soak! Just purchase a box of dehydrated mashed potatoes and follow the recipe. Once you have your mashed potatoes add lukewarm or cool water to get the temperature to the right level to soak your feet. The potatoes will retain heat longer than a traditional footbath and they help reduce swelling and soften skin. To make the experience more glamorous, add essential oils before you put your feet in. Then indulge feet in one of the best soaks you’ll ever experience! Bonus: This same concept can be used with Oatmeal. Oatmeal will soothe and deeply restore dry, cracked and painful feet. -- Kayla Fioravanti, an ARC Registered & Certified Aromatherapist and the Co-founder and Chief Cosmetic Formulator for Essential Wholesale

A Quick and Cheap Fix for Yellow Stained Nails
Run a freshly cut lemon over your nails to help fade the yellow or mix 1 teaspoon lemon juice with 2 tablespoons water and soak your nails for 15 minutes. Follow up with a moisturizing nail cream or oil since lemon can be drying. -- Janice Cox, Author of Natural Beauty at Home (Henry Holt & Company)

Skip the Pricey Body Scrubs
Instead, make your own raw sugar body scrub -- mix together 1/2 cup raw sugar with 1/4 cup light oil -- use in the shower as an exfoliating body scrub (use caution as shower will be slippery after use). -- Janice Cox, Author of Natural Beauty at Home (Henry Holt & Company)

My new boots!

I got these new SM sweater boots and they are THE most comfortable boots ever. I got online at DSW.com for around $50 free shipping.

Haul

Got a few things last week that I wanted to review- one of which I was super excited about.

LOREAL SUBLIME BRONZE -Lovingg this bronzer!! It has a beautiful soft shimmer to it, its super easy to apply, smells so good and doesn't streak. I was using Jergens nautral glow express before, which is still one of my favs, but this smells 10x better! Loving this!

SOAP AND GLORY SUGAR CRUSH SCRUB - Okay I got this scrub based on other bloggers reviews on this. Although it smells so good, I didn't feel super exfoliated after using this. I love that it has almond oil, and I'll def. continue to use it for the smell, but it isn't one of my favorite scrubs.

Revlons "Plum Night" - I knew I'd love this color as soon as I picked it up - I wanted a dark purple without any shimmer to it, and this is exactly that. In a dark room it can look black, but it the light its a beautiful purple! Exactly the name - Plum Night!

Maybelline's "red Revival" - I don't know why I continue to buy red lipsticks, because I never end up wearing them out! Regardless, this is a beautiful red. Its straight up red. Goes on great. I'm not picky about my lipsticks.

Neutrogena's Grapefruit scrub - OKAY -so this has terrible reviews on makeupalley, but I still wanted to try it, as I've been eyeing it up after time I'm at cvs or target. I finally got it and I'm LOVING IT! My skin was SUPER smooth after using this. Any breakouts I had were gone and it really exfoliates! Smells delicious! I hope my skin continous to react like this. Im combination skin - not too sensitive. This product probably isn't good for sensitive skin. RAVES for this product!

CARGO'S Roam blush - Like I said in an earlier post, this is my new HG blush. I'M LOVING THIS peachy shimmery blush. Goes on so nicely, lasts forever, and Cargo has a great color selection. A+

Last but not least, Laura Mercier select concealer - Okay I got this because Kim Kardashian's makeup artist used this on her and as always, she looked incredible. Unfortunately, I dont have his miracle hands or her beautiful face, but I did love this concealer! I don't use concealer often, so I suppose I'm not that picky. This concealer doesnt crease, covers up circles for the most part, blends easily and lasts all day. Great concealer!
